I'm sorry if you disagree or think i parrot steve's crap, i don't i hope that came across. i did read many of the comments first before i posted as well. (PS i am a humanist and a feminist as well :D) im just stating facts from other writings from victims themselves, if you go to some of the websites i've listed you'll see for yourself that some victims DO try to act out some form of the abuse over in order to control the results, sadly it doesn't give the satisfaction they seek. i have also done this in milder ways, like flirting with guys then telling them off when they seem receptive. ive since learned better ways to deal with my traumas. its okay if you dont post this, i just wanted you to know in no way do i think "nice" girls dont get raped or "slutty, risque, suggesstively dressed" girls deserve to. NOT AT ALL. im saying there are always risks a person takes if they play with someone's emotions, sometimes ones they cant anticipate... thats why in crime investigation they take into account the lifestyle a person leads (high risk or low risk) to profile who the potential perpetrator is: ie do drugs and hang out with drug dealers and gangsters youre likely to OD or be killed by the latter two...
we can choose to disagree, however case studies are inarguable.

As a female target of child abuse and rape who suffers PTSD, I understand how this statement could be inflamatory and triggering. Yes it was wrong for Steve to say that, but he was trying to wake Arian up. I think she was just on the show to further her after-show career, as seen by all the attention she drummed up for her website etc, *cough*publicity whore*cough* :D lol ...
However, if you ask psychiatrists, therapists and psychologists they would say- yes, there are some people who will put themselves into situations where they will lead on a person only to spurn him/her, (or similiar kinds of situations). This is a way to act out the abuse all over again, but with results the "victim"/target can control. Believe it or not, some of these people are picked for the high dangerous factor, (as in people that no doubt don't send off "I'll take it in stride and just move on"), therefore a better emotional payoff in the end. In this era of enlightenment, people should know this.
I agree it's wrong if they get raped, but it is possible to provoke the wrong person and end up with results you don't like. That's like people who go to frat parties and think they can leave thier drinks unattended; it's very naive to think that you didn't invite being drugged and raped. Especially considering you left yourself vunerable to someone putting roofies in it when there's been sooo much press and court cases about that exact thing. Does it mean you DESERVED it? NO! Does it mean you did something to contribute? Sadly, yes. Prevention and knowledge is the best cure.

By the way, for targets of abuse, rape and sex crimes - check out these websites:

2. www.youareatarget.com
3. www.lisaescott.com
It really helped me ALOT. I made me realize that perpetrators know us better than we know ourselves.. otherwise how do they anticipate our weaknesses? And alot of them are psychopaths or narcissists, who know how to analyze people and find their soft spots/weaknesses and exploit them for their own purposes.
We ARE NOT victims, we ARE NOT survivors- we were targets!!!
